Historic Homes

Currently, Peter L’Orange is the Historic Preservation Planner for the City of Binghamton.  In our roles with the Greater Binghamton Association of REALTORS, we are in a position to assist buyers or sellers to understand what it might mean for their properties to be designated as Historic.

Sometimes buyer/seller/owners of designated historic properties are unaware of that designation, which may lead to problems.  When an owner begins work on a designated historic building there are specific requirements that they need to be aware of.

To reduce wasted effort, money or problem occurrences, the City of Binghamton and the Greater Binghamton Association of REALTORS would like to ensure undertanding and education for buyers, sellers, and REALTORS about historic designation and what that means.  With new Historic homeowners all the time, one of the best ways to introduce new and prospective buyers to the idea of owning a designated historic building, is through their real estate agents.
